1Check warranty statusEnter serial number at support.apple.com u2192 check coverage. Staingate was covered by an extended 4-year program.
2If out of warranty u2014 clean with solventUse Screen Cleaner Pro or 70% isopropyl. Apply with microfiber in small circles. Removes the entire AR coat u2014 display becomes brighter but more reflective.⚠ Do not use acetone or paint thinner u2014 these damage the LCD.
3Remove bottom coverRemove 10 P5 pentalobe screws. Lift cover with spudger.⚠ Do not puncture the battery pouch underneath.
4Disconnect batteryUse spudger to pop the battery connector off the motherboard. Wait 10 minutes.
5Remove LCD assemblyDisconnect display cable + antenna cables. Unscrew 2 hinge screws. Lift LCD assembly off the chassis.
6Replace Retina panel (proper fix)Order replacement A1502 Retina panel (~u20b918,000-22,000). Part number LP133QP1-SPA1 (LG) or B133ZAN02.3 (BOE).⚠ Verify the panel part number matches before ordering.
7Install new panelMount new panel in the assembly. Connect eDP cable + antenna cables. Reattach to chassis.
8Test displayReconnect battery. Power on. Display should be clean and crisp. Test all 4 corners for uniform brightness.
