1Assess damageOpen lid slowly. If the back cover separates from the hinge by >3mm, you need epoxy. If the LCD glass is cracked, replace the panel too.
2Remove LCD assemblyRemove 10 Torx T5 screws from bottom. Pry bottom cover off. Disconnect battery, display cable, antenna cables. Unscrew 4 hinge screws. Lift LCD off.
3Clean hinge areaUse isopropyl to clean the broken adhesive from the hinge area. Both surfaces should be shiny clean.
4Apply epoxyMix 2-part epoxy (5-min cure type). Apply thin layer to the inner hinge channel of the back cover. Press hinge into epoxy.⚠ Do not get epoxy on the LCD panel or antenna cables u2014 it is permanent.
5Clamp and cureUse 2 small clamps to hold hinge against back cover. Wait 30 minutes minimum. Best to wait 24 hours.
6Reinforce with screwsAfter epoxy cures, drill 2 small holes (1.5mm) through hinge flange into back cover. Install 2 small self-tapping screws. This is permanent.⚠ Use a depth stop on the drill u2014 do not puncture the LCD.
7ReassembleReattach LCD assembly, reconnect cables, screw bottom cover. Test hinge tension u2014 should be smooth, no creaking.
