1Remove back coverUnscrew all 11 Phillips screws on the back. Use a spudger to pry the cover off u2014 start at a corner.⚠ Plastic clips can break u2014 be gentle.
2Disconnect batteryUnplug the battery connector from the motherboard. Press power button for 5 seconds to drain capacitors.
3Remove keyboard screwsFrom the inside, locate the 4 keyboard screws (marked with keyboard icon). Unscrew them.
4Push keyboard outFrom the back, use a spudger through the screw holes to push the keyboard up. It will pop out from the top side.
5Disconnect ribbon cablesFlip the keyboard up. Unlock the ribbon cable connectors (2 u2014 keyboard + backlight). Pull cables gently.⚠ Do not pull the cable u2014 lift the brown locking tab first.
6Inspect for liquid damageLook at the motherboard under the keyboard for corrosion. If present, clean with isopropyl.
7Install new keyboardConnect both ribbon cables. Lock the tabs. Place keyboard into the frame. Screw from inside.
8Test all keysReconnect battery. Power on. Open Notepad. Press every key A-Z. Pay attention to Q/W/E/R/T (the failing row).
9ReassembleIf all keys work, screw the back cover back on. Done.
